Doosan Enerbility announced on June 9 that it has finalized a construction contract with Vietnam’s largest state-owned enterprise, the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PVN), to build the Omon 4 gas combined cycle power plant. The contract is valued at approximately 900 billion won.
The Omon 4 power plant, which will have a total generation capacity of 155 megawatts (MW), is set to be completed by 2028. It will be located about 180 kilometers southwest of Ho Chi Minh City.
Doosan Enerbility has partnered with Vietnamese construction specialist PECC2 to form a consortium. Together, they will handle the supply of main equipment, oversee construction, and manage the comprehensive commissioning of the facility.
This marks Doosan Enerbility’s fifth overseas gas combined cycle power plant contract in 2024, following projects in Qatar in February and Saudi Arabia in March. The total value of these contracts this year amounts to 4.3 trillion won.
Lee Hyun-ho, head of the EPC Business Group at Doosan Enerbility, stated, “Our proven track record in Vietnam was key to securing this contract. Vietnam aims to expand its gas combined cycle power capacity to as much as 37.4 gigawatts by 2030. We intend to actively pursue further opportunities in this growing market.”
