Walter GB Ltd is expanding its capabilities in machining non-ferrous metals with the launch of a new line of polycrystalline diamond (PCD) milling cutters. Designed to offer extended tool life, superior performance, and increased sustainability, the new tools target ISO N materials such as aluminium, copper alloys, and fibre composites.
Recognising the industry trend of custom-built PCD tools, Walter has added standardised solutions to its range with the introduction of the MP271 slot cutter and the MP470 ball-nosed end mill.
The MP271, a three-edged slot cutter with diameters from 16mm to 25mm, features a 30mm segmented cutting edge and a central cutting geometry. It supports deep cutting depths and is optimised for trimming applications. Its differential pitch geometry helps reduce vibration during operation.
Complementing it is the MP470, a double-edged spherical cutter available in diameters from 4mm to 16mm. With cutting lengths ranging from 4mm to 14mm and overall lengths of 55mm to 80mm, the MP470 is tailored for free-form surface machining and finishing.
Both cutters are manufactured using Walter’s WDN20 PCD grade, delivering high wear resistance and extended service life. In addition to performance, the tools are also designed with sustainability in mind. The brazed PCD edges are fully reconditionable, offering manufacturers an environmentally conscious and cost-effective tooling solution.
These new tools are particularly suited to sectors where aluminium machining is essential, such as general engineering, automotive, and aerospace.
