Honda will produce only 40 units of the Civic Type R Ultimate Edition, with 10 allocated for the UK market and the remaining 30 for Europe. This limited run marks the winding down of production in these regions due to increasingly strict emissions regulations.
The Ultimate Edition will not be available in Australia, where the Civic Type R remains part of Honda’s lineup for now. A Honda Australia spokesperson confirmed, “We are unable to comment on the announcements in Europe and the UK but can confirm that locally Honda Australia still offers the Civic Type R as part of our model lineup. Demand has been higher than expected, so we are working with our factory to secure additional stock. Customers can register their interest on our website.”
Finished in Honda’s iconic ‘Championship White’ paint, the Ultimate Edition features bold red decals along the center and sides, complemented by a painted black roof, carbon fiber spoiler, and door sill trims. The carbon fiber theme continues inside the cabin, with a carbon center console and enhanced ambient lighting illuminating the door cards, cup holders, center console, footwells, and under the seats. A unique Type R puddle light also activates when the front doors open.
Each of the 40 buyers will receive a special gift box containing a numbered emblem, a carbon fiber key ring, custom floor mats, and a car cover. These units will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Ultimate Edition’s powertrain remains unchanged from the standard Type R model, featuring a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 242 kW and 420 Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed manual transmission driving the front wheels. Honda claims a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 5.4 seconds, aided by wide 265mm tires that help transfer its substantial power to the road.
Honda’s FL5-generation Civic Type R holds the front-wheel-drive record around the Nürburgring Nordschleife, with TCR driver Nestor Girolami setting a time of 7 minutes and 44.881 seconds in 2023. However, reports suggest the record was achieved in a modified version producing more power and torque than the showroom model, along with altered gear ratios.
