Bartlett Tree Experts celebrated National Arbor Day by distributing over 50,000 tree seedlings across U.S. communities through its Legacy Tree Program. Now in its 11th year, the initiative has provided 775,000 seedlings since 2014 – representing a $2.4 million investment and 14,000 volunteer hours to combat urban tree loss and environmental decline.
Global Reach With Local Impact
The company’s 190 offices across the U.S., Canada, U.K., and Ireland participated in this year’s giveaway. Certified arborists volunteered time to educate recipients about tree benefits while distributing species like Flowering Dogwood and Swamp White Oak, carefully selected for regional suitability. Many seedlings were planted during Earth Day and Arbor Day events this spring.
Restoring Urban Forests
Program manager Patrick Franklin emphasized the dual mission: “We’re bridging communities and trees while addressing environmental needs.” The initiative specifically targets reversing suburban tree loss from development and rebuilding canopies after natural disasters. School children remain key recipients, fostering early appreciation for urban forestry.
Science-Based Species Selection
Bartlett arborists prioritize native species that enhance local biodiversity. This year’s selections included Eastern Redbud and other regionally appropriate varieties chosen for their adaptability and ecological benefits. The approach ensures distributed trees thrive while strengthening genetic diversity in urban forests.
Long-Term Environmental Investment
Since its 2014 launch, the program has become a cornerstone of Bartlett’s sustainability efforts. Beyond seasonal giveaways, it supports ongoing reforestation projects and disaster recovery plantings. The consistent annual commitment demonstrates how corporate initiatives can drive meaningful environmental change through community engagement and expert-led tree distribution.
