Clive Hickman OBE Elected 139th President of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers

Clive Hickman OBE, Chair of the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) in Coventry, has been elected as the 139th president of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), succeeding his previous role as deputy president.

With a longstanding commitment to IMechE, Clive’s journey began as an engineering apprentice, driven by a keen curiosity for innovation. Throughout his illustrious career in the industry, which included pivotal roles such as Head of Engineering at Tata Motors and CEO of the MTC since 2011, Clive has remained deeply involved with IMechE as a dedicated volunteer.

In his address titled “Innovation in Manufacturing and the Impact of Technology,” Clive outlined his vision for the engineering profession, emphasizing the crucial role of manufacturing in today’s landscape. His thematic focus for the Presidential year underscores the significance of embracing advanced technologies within the engineering community.

Clive Hickman emphasized the importance of influencing governmental policies to foster an environment conducive to the adoption of automation, robotics, and other cutting-edge manufacturing technologies.
