GROB Systems, Inc., a global leader in manufacturing systems and machine tools, has broken ground on a $24 million expansion of its Bluffton, Ohio, headquarters and production facility. The 135,000-square-foot addition—a 35% increase over the existing 400,000-square-foot complex—will enhance sub-assembly operations and logistical capacity, including two new shipping docks. The project is expected to create 200 new jobs over the next three years, reinforcing GROB’s commitment to U.S.-based manufacturing.
Strengthening Supply Chain and Assembly Efficiency
The expansion, situated on the east side of the current facility, will consolidate sub-assembly departments, streamlining workflows for final production in the main plant. The additional depressed loading docks will improve shipping throughput, reducing bottlenecks and supporting GROB’s growing North American customer base. This upgrade aligns with industry trends toward onshore production and just-in-time manufacturing to mitigate supply chain risks.
Job Growth and Economic Impact in Ohio
With 200 skilled positions slated for addition, the expansion underscores GROB’s role as a key employer in Northwest Ohio. The company, which specializes in 5-axis machining centers and automation systems, has seen rising demand from aerospace, automotive, and medical device manufacturers. State and local officials have welcomed the investment, citing its potential to boost regional economic development and attract further industrial growth.
Supporting Industry 4.0 and Advanced Manufacturing
GROB’s expansion comes as U.S. manufacturers increasingly adopt smart factory technologies, including automated machining and robotics. The upgraded facility will enhance the company’s ability to deliver high-precision, large-scale production systems, meeting demand for flexible, automated manufacturing solutions.
A Strategic Move for Long-Term Growth
This investment positions GROB to scale production while maintaining its reputation for German-engineered quality. As reshoring gains momentum, the Ohio facility’s expansion ensures GROB remains competitive in the North American machine tool market.
