At the World Tunnelling Congress 2025, Finnish underground construction technology specialist Normet introduced two major innovations aimed at enhancing concrete spraying efficiency across a range of tunnelling projects. The company launched its new Spraymec 9100, a high-performance sprayer tailored for large tunnel profiles, and announced a significant upgrade to its existing Minimec spraying manipulator, extending its operational reach.
Spraymec 9100 Targets Large-Scale Projects with Expanded Reach
Designed specifically for high-output sprayed concrete applications in large-profile tunnels and caverns, the Spraymec 9100 integrates key features from Normet’s advanced sprayer lineup. It includes a low-pulsation concrete pump, an onboard compressor, and a 1,500-liter accelerator tank, all packaged in a robust machine engineered for maximum productivity.
The Spraymec 9100 offers a maximum vertical spraying reach of 19.5 meters and a spraying width of up to 28 meters, positioning it among the top performers in its category. It also comes equipped with Normet’s SmartSpray boom control system as standard, ensuring ease of operation and precision. An optional Remote Driving System allows the machine to be relocated conveniently from ground level, further streamlining on-site operations.
Minimec Update Enhances Flexibility in Confined Spaces
Alongside the new sprayer, Normet has updated its Minimec spraying manipulator, known for its compact form and high efficiency in tight underground environments. The latest model now features an extended boom reach of 8.5 meters, compared to the previous standard of 7.5 meters, offering improved manoeuvrability and broader coverage.
With its precise control system and rugged construction, the Minimec is designed to deliver accurate and consistent spraying in challenging conditions. Its extended reach makes it especially well-suited for projects where space is limited but productivity and safety remain priorities.
Normet Reinforces Commitment to Innovation in Tunnelling
“These innovations represent the continuous evolution of our sprayed concrete solutions,” said Toni Huttunen, Product Line Director of Sprayed Concrete at Normet. “The Minimec update sets a new benchmark for precision and efficiency in confined spaces, while the Spraymec 9100 brings powerful performance to large-scale projects. The World Tunnelling Congress provides the ideal setting to introduce these new solutions to the industry.”
With these additions, Normet continues to broaden its range of tunnelling equipment, reinforcing its commitment to developing tailored solutions that address the varied needs of underground construction professionals. The latest releases are part of the company’s ongoing effort to meet the complex demands of tunnelling environments with innovative, efficient, and durable equipment.
