Renishaw’s sustainability goals align with three of the UN’s sustainable development goals (SDGs): SDG 8 (Sustainable Economic Growth), SDG 12 (Sustainable Consumption and Production), and SDG 13 (Climate Action). The company aims to reduce emissions related to its business activities and purchased energy, and this partnership with Ecotricity contributes to its global initiative for 100% renewable electricity usage across all sites, including those in India, Japan, Mexico, and the USA.

Ben Goodare, Head of Sustainability at Renishaw, stated, “By the end of 2024, 100% of what we purchase globally will meet our sustainability requirements.” Renishaw has already achieved a 21% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions compared to the previous financial year.

Renishaw’s commitment to using local suppliers for sustainability aligns with Ecotricity’s base in Stroud, Gloucestershire, close to many of Renishaw’s major UK operations.

Ecotricity’s Chief Growth Officer, Paul Sands, expressed delight in supplying Renishaw with 100% green electricity and acknowledged Renishaw’s role as a torchbearer in sustainability. Sands highlighted the collaboration as contributing to building more renewable generation, a crucial need in Britain.

To find a new energy provider that met Renishaw’s sustainability requirements, the company collaborated with Logical Utilities, a utilities consultancy based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.
