Polestar has expanded its rally-inspired Arctic Circle series with new one-off versions of its Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 SUVs, joining the previously revealed Polestar 2 in a complete lineup of extreme winter performance vehicles. The Swedish electric performance brand will debut all three Arctic Circle models at the 2025 FAT Ice Race in Austria, showcasing their motorsport-derived capabilities on ice.
Rally-Bred Performance DNA
Developed under the direction of Polestar’s Head of Driving Dynamics Joakim Rydholm – a veteran with 30 years of motorsport experience including multiple Swedish rally podiums – the Arctic Circle collection applies competition-proven engineering solutions to Polestar’s electric vehicles. Each model features a raised ride height with custom 3-way adjustable Öhlins dampers, specialized Pirelli studded tires, and OZ Racing’s new ‘Rally Legend’ wheels, creating authentic rally car dynamics adapted for extreme winter conditions.
Purpose-Built Winter Machines
The Arctic Circle models incorporate several performance-focused upgrades:
- Stedi Quad Evo front spotlights for enhanced visibility
- Recaro bucket seats providing secure support during dynamic driving
- Rally-inspired accessories including roof racks and recovery equipment
- Unique exterior treatments emphasizing their winter-ready character
These modifications transform Polestar’s production vehicles into capable ice racers while maintaining their signature Scandinavian design aesthetic.
Proving Grounds in Extreme Conditions
Polestar’s performance DNA is forged in the challenging Arctic environment surrounding its Swedish R&D facilities, where engineers develop and refine vehicle dynamics in sub-zero temperatures. “The Arctic Circle collection illustrates our unique performance DNA, rooted in motorsport and combined with Scandinavian design,” said Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller. The company’s participation in the FAT Ice Race demonstrates its commitment to performance validation in real-world extreme conditions.
Showcasing Electric Performance
By applying its Arctic testing experience to create these special editions, Polestar reinforces its position as an electric performance brand with authentic motorsport credentials. The Arctic Circle collection serves as both a celebration of Polestar’s engineering capabilities and a demonstration of electric vehicle performance potential in demanding winter environments.
