Titan Manufacturing has bolstered its production capacity with a £500,000 investment in five advanced Hurco CNC machines. The Weymouth-based precision engineer acquired four VM30i machining centers and one TMX10MYi multi-tasking lathe to meet growing demand across its aerospace, medical, and automotive client base.
Large-Capacity Machines in Compact Footprints
The VM30i mills offer an impressive 1,270mm X-axis travel while maintaining a space-efficient design ideal for multi-vice setups. Meanwhile, the TMX10MYi lathe eliminates secondary operations by combining turning with live tooling for milling and drilling. “These machines deliver the power and precision we need while simplifying workflows,” said Managing Director Jon Higson.
Conversational Programming Boosts Efficiency
A key advantage is Hurco’s intuitive conversational control system, enabling machinists to program complex parts directly at the machine. “Our team can now skip offline CAD/CAM for many jobs, slashing programming time,” Higson explained. The company has already trained its workforce on the new systems, which are fully operational at Titan’s 30,000 sq ft Granby Industrial Estate facility.
Scaling Up for Growing Demand
The investment supports Titan’s expansion into a second Weymouth site, creating eight new jobs alongside upgraded blasting and finishing capabilities. Since its 2011 founding, the company has evolved from a small workshop to a full-service manufacturer offering CNC machining, laser cutting, and welded fabrication.
A Partnership for Precision Growth
Hurco MD David Waghorn praised Titan’s strategic vision: “These machines were built for hard work—perfect for a company with Titan’s ambition.” The deal strengthens Titan’s position as a one-stop manufacturing solution for sectors requiring high-tolerance components, from military hardware to medical devices.
