Schneider Electric has partnered with technology firm on365 to modernize the data center infrastructure of UK insurance giant Markerstudy Group, serving over eight million customers. The collaboration focuses on upgrading electrical systems across multiple facilities while significantly reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions. The project standardizes Markerstudy’s infrastructure using Schneider’s EcoStruxure data center solutions, including Galaxy V-series UPS systems and advanced cooling technologies.
The modernization initiative addresses Markerstudy’s rapid expansion through acquisitions, which created complex integration challenges across its distributed IT systems. Schneider’s solutions provide centralized monitoring through EcoStruxure IT Expert DCIM software, enabling real-time management of power and cooling infrastructure. A five-year managed service agreement with on365 ensures ongoing optimization of these critical systems, combining energy efficiency with operational resilience.
Sustainability drives the project’s core objectives, aligning with Markerstudy’s Bronze EcoVadis rating and commitment to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. Recent upgrades include replacing 30-year-old electrical equipment with IoT-enabled substations capable of supporting renewable energy integration and EV charging infrastructure. The insurer has also deployed Schneider’s InRow DX cooling systems and Galaxy VS UPS units to minimize thermal-related downtime while improving power usage effectiveness (PUE).
Beyond primary data centers, the partnership has strengthened edge computing environments at regional offices and call centers. Manchester locations now feature APC Smart-UPS systems protecting network racks, while Tunbridge Wells headquarters received a complete technology refresh. These distributed solutions maintain continuity for Markerstudy’s insurance services while reducing the environmental impact of its growing digital operations.
“Schneider’s technology helps us balance expansion with sustainability,” said Markerstudy CTO Nick Ovenden. The project demonstrates how industrial companies can leverage Schneider Electric’s ecosystem to modernize legacy infrastructure. With 150,000 employees across 100 countries, Schneider continues advancing its vision of sustainable, efficient digital transformation for enterprise clients worldwide.
