TÜV Rheinland has awarded multiple cTUVus certifications to TeraHive’s intelligent energy management systems, marking a significant milestone for the company’s expansion into North American markets. The prestigious certifications validate that TeraHive’s Smart Switch and Energy Suite meet rigorous U.S. and Canadian safety standards including UL 1741, UL 916, and ANSI/UL/CSA 9540, positioning the company as a competitive player in the growing smart energy sector.
The TeraHive Smart Switch received certification for its advanced grid interconnection capabilities, demonstrating compliance with critical standards for energy efficiency, reliability, and functional safety. Notably, the UL 1741 certification confirms the product’s ability to safely integrate with various energy systems while intelligently monitoring and adjusting power distribution. This technological advancement effectively bypasses traditional 120% distribution limits imposed by U.S. electrical codes, offering enhanced system flexibility for residential and commercial applications.
Equally significant, TeraHive’s AI-powered Energy Suite earned certification for its comprehensive safety features and operational reliability. The system underwent rigorous testing to verify protection against electrical hazards including overloads and short circuits, while maintaining stable performance under extreme conditions. These certifications cover crucial aspects of renewable energy integration, from battery fire safety to thermal stability, ensuring the system meets North America’s stringent requirements for smart grid compatibility.
“These certifications reflect our commitment to advancing intelligent energy management through safe, innovative solutions,” said Kevin Lin, TeraHive Co-Founder. The company plans to leverage this achievement to expand beyond home energy management into enterprise solutions, charging infrastructure, and microgrid technologies. Backed by parent company LITEON Technology, TeraHive operates globally with engineering teams across California, Taiwan, and Singapore specializing in energy optimization.
Albin Yang of TÜV Rheinland emphasized the certification’s importance in facilitating market access for green energy technologies. As a globally recognized testing authority with 150 years of experience, TÜV Rheinland’s endorsement signals TeraHive’s compliance with North America’s most demanding electrical safety protocols. The achievement comes as intelligent energy management systems gain traction worldwide, with certifications serving as critical gateways for technology providers entering regulated energy markets.
