Yamazaki Mazak Achieves Record Laser Sales in 2023, Driven by NEO Range and Customer Service Focus

by Anna

Yamazaki Mazak celebrated its most successful year for laser sales in 2023, attributing the achievement to the introduction of the NEO range of laser processing machines and a heightened focus on customer service.

The NEO range, including the OPTIPLEX NEO 20kW and the FG-400 NEO fiber laser, expanded Mazak’s capabilities in 2D and 3D laser cutting, capturing new markets within OEMs and subcontractors. These machines have found applications in heavy plate work, particularly in sectors like energy and construction.

Mazak’s commitment to customer service has been a significant driver of market share. The company invested in its service and support, boasting 25 applications staff ready to provide advice. A notable addition is the industry-first 24-hour service hotline for laser users, accessible even if the machine is not under warranty or a service contract.

Automation has proven to be a successful selling point, with Mazak offering the largest range of automation options in the market. The use of Mazak’s Open Robot Interface technology allows for the fitting of virtually any automation system to their machines, with the capability to design bespoke systems tailored to individual customer production requirements.

The recently opened European Laser Technology Centre in Milan has also contributed to promoting Mazak’s laser range across Europe, providing a centralized location for customers to view the entire range and observe real-world applications.

Mazak’s move to a larger facility in Minokamo, Japan, has increased production capacity and integrated the company’s operations further. The expansion allows Mazak to meet the growing demand and cater to customers benefiting from the increased investment in laser technology.

Looking ahead to 2024, Mazak is set to launch the OPTIPLEX Ez machine, a cost-effective laser processing range with advanced cutting features, expected to be competitive and popular within the UK market.

Ian White expressed confidence in the future, stating, “Laser users are increasingly understanding what Mazak can offer, both in terms of our extensive machine range and the quality of our service support, which is industry-leading.”
