Metcal, a division of OK International and Dover (NYSE: DOV) and a prominent player in benchtop soldering solutions for the electronics and industrial manufacturing sectors, has announced the launch of its BVX-250 Fume Extraction System. This new portable fume extractor boasts HEPA filtration and a range of innovations aimed at simplifying filter changes, improving exhaust management, and enhancing operator communication.
Joshua Edberg, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Metcal, emphasized the BVX-250’s advantages: “With high performance, simple filter changes, innovative exhausting, and advanced communication, the BVX-250 offers manufacturers and operators an improved user experience in a compact, 12lb system.”
One standout feature of the BVX-250 is its patented front-facing filter design, which allows users to swiftly replace the HEPA filter without complex manipulations. Additionally, the pre-filter is conveniently located in a separate front-facing compartment, making it easily accessible for operator-led changes.
Metcal’s Product Director, Can La, highlighted another innovation: “The BVX-250 offers a patented 360˚-rotating exhaust diverter that enables users to direct exhaust away from the operator. Since these systems are positioned in various locations, the upgraded features allowing the exhaust to be adjustable provide a significantly improved user experience.”
The BVX-250 also enhances communication between the fume extractor and the operator. It introduces new features such as a large LED status ring and direct connectivity to Metcal CV and GT soldering systems, allowing filter notifications to be easily viewed from either touchpoint. Furthermore, when connected to a Metcal CV or GT soldering system, the operator can utilize a “smart fume extraction” setting to run the fume extractor only when the soldering iron is active, conserving energy.
