Denza, the premium electric vehicle brand under BYD (OTCMKTS: BYDDY), recently celebrated a significant milestone by delivering its 10,000th N9 SUV just two months after the model’s March 21 launch.
The delivery ceremony took place at BYD’s global headquarters in Shenzhen, where BYD chairman and president Wang Chuanfu personally handed the keys to Zhou Jian, the founder, chairman, and CEO of UBTech Robotics (HKG: 9880).
Zhou is a leading figure in China’s humanoid robotics industry. Since founding UBTech in 2012, he has steered the company to the forefront of robotics innovation. In 2018, UBTech introduced Walker, a first-generation humanoid robot capable of walking, voice interaction, and providing services such as guidance and reception.
Several prominent automakers, including BYD, Nio (NYSE: NIO), and Zeekr (NYSE: ZK), are currently integrating UBTech’s humanoid robots into their car manufacturing lines, highlighting the growing intersection of robotics and automotive production.
Zhou is among a group of notable entrepreneurs who are also BYD vehicle owners. Recently, on April 21, BYD’s ultra-luxury sub-brand Yangwang marked its own milestone by delivering its 10,000th vehicle to Yu Minhong, founder of the Chinese education company New Oriental.
Moreover, on August 9, 2023, BYD celebrated rolling out its 5 millionth new energy vehicle (NEV), a Denza N7, which was handed over to Luo Zhenyu, a well-known Chinese entrepreneur and speaker.
These milestones underline BYD’s rapid growth and influence in the new energy vehicle market, while also showcasing its strong ties to China’s leading tech entrepreneurs.
