As uncertainty continues to grip the world, interest in go-anywhere expedition vehicles is surging. The newly unveiled 2025 Storyteller Overland GXV Epic answers that call—not just with brute force, but with serious engineering and comfort. Built on a Kenworth K370 chassis and powered by a Cummins 6.7-liter turbo-diesel inline-six, this overland rig promises independence from civilization, or what’s left of it.
Unlike many expedition vehicles based on European platforms, the GXV Epic uses a domestic American truck base, giving it a distinctive edge. The Cummins engine delivers 660 lb-ft of torque, which is routed through a two-speed transfer case with a crawl ratio of 50:1. Paired with a massive 200-gallon fuel tank, the setup is clearly engineered for extended off-grid travel.
Equipped with locking front and rear differentials, the GXV Epic rides on 22.5-inch forged aluminum wheels wrapped in 44-inch Bridgestone L315 multi-purpose tires (425/65R22.5). An onboard air compressor offers both passenger and driver-side air ports for tire inflation or accessory use. For recovery and trail duty, the rig includes a 20,000-pound ComeUp winch, full exterior lighting, and a 16-foot power awning with integrated LED lighting. A powered aluminum entry step eases access to the cabin.
Rugged Meets Refined in the Interior
Inside the cab, both the driver and front passenger sit on Scheel-mann air ride seats, while the Kenworth sound system supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for modern infotainment needs.
The rear living space is built using 2.36-inch-thick GXV composite panels for optimal insulation and features an ArmorThane protective coating. Armor Vision dual-pane windows provide thermal efficiency, blackout shades, and bug screens.
Access is through a secure three-point locking stainless steel entry door, or a crawl-through portal connecting to the cab. A sliding tray with an 800-pound capacity allows for convenient transfer of gear. In total, the GXV Epic measures 30 feet, 2 inches long, 8 feet wide, and 12 feet, 5 inches tall, putting it firmly in the “not compact” category.
Off-Grid Living with Home-Level Comfort
The interior is designed to resemble a compact apartment, offering a surprising level of comfort. The kitchen is outfitted with a 1,600-watt dual-burner induction cooktop, a large stainless steel sink, and a 120-gallon freshwater tank filtered via a Guzzle H2O purification system.
For sanitation, the GXV Epic features a spacious wet bath with a skylight, a 40-gallon grey water tank, and a cassette toilet. Laundry can be handled onboard with a washer/dryer combo unit.
An 18-kWh Mastervolt lithium-ion battery system (24V) powers the vehicle’s living space, connected to a 4,500-watt inverter to convert DC to AC power. The system can be charged by a 6,000-watt Onan QD Quiet diesel generator, a 1,980-watt solar panel array, or via the engine’s alternator.
For climate control, the vehicle includes a 15,000-BTU Truma Aventa air conditioning unit and an Aqua-Hot 450D diesel hydronic heater rated at 650,000 BTUs, distributed through four air handlers.
Sleeping and Storage Solutions
The GXV Epic’s main sleeping quarters feature a premium queen-size bed, while a convertible four-person dinette transforms into a full-size guest bed. For food storage and prep, the vehicle includes a two-door Vitrifrigo refrigerator/freezer, microwave, convection oven, and even an air fryer.
A Steep Price for Total Freedom
This high-tech, off-road-ready mobile residence does come at a cost. The starting price is $799,784, putting it out of reach for most consumers. Still, for those who can afford it, the GXV Epic offers something rare: a truly self-contained mobile home built for the end of the road—or the end of the world.
As demand grows for vehicles that blend adventure and autonomy, the 2025 Storyteller Overland GXV Epic stakes a bold claim in the luxury overland space.
