The Town of Hawkesbury has bolstered its emergency preparedness by installing a new generator at the Robert Hartley Sports Complex, thanks to a $50,000 grant from Ontario’s Community Emergency Preparedness Grant Program. This generator is set to enhance the town’s response capabilities in the event of prolonged power outages or other crises.
The sports complex, already designated as a shelter during emergencies, will now be even better equipped to provide essential services, such as heating, electricity for communication systems, and maintaining critical operations during emergency situations.
“This grant strengthens our commitment to the safety and well-being of our citizens,” said Mayor Robert Lefebvre. “With this new generator, the Sports Complex will become a stronger resource in future crises, ensuring that we are prepared to meet the community’s needs.”
The Community Emergency Preparedness Grant Program is designed to help municipalities like Hawkesbury improve their capacity to manage emergencies by providing the resources they need to respond effectively. The installation of this generator reflects the town’s ongoing efforts to increase resilience against potential disasters such as storms or extended power outages.
