ChargePoint Opens New Facility for Single-Use Pharma Tech

by Anna

ChargePoint Technology has unveiled a state-of-the-art manufacturing site in Speke, Liverpool, dedicated to single-use products. This expansion supports growing demand for the company’s disposable technologies and marks the launch of its new Flexible Packaging division.

The 240m² facility features a high-tech IS06 cleanroom operating under ISO9001 quality standards, along with temperature- and humidity-controlled storage. This cleanroom significantly increases ChargePoint’s capacity to design, develop, and produce high-tech flexible packaging solutions that ensure sterile, safe, and reliable powder handling — protecting people, products, and the environment.

The investment responds to rising global demand for containment solutions that maintain sterile integrity during closed powder transfer processes, both in development and commercial production scales.

Innovative Products Supported by New Facility

The new cleanroom has already driven innovation, enabling the launch of two new products: the ChargeBag QF and ChargeBag XL. These additions expand ChargePoint’s single-use product portfolio, which also includes the ChargeBag line and Split Butterfly Valve connections.

ChargeBag® XL: A 3D powder transfer bag designed for batch sizes over 150 liters, offering larger capacity than previous 2D bags without sacrificing handling efficiency. It uses proprietary HiPure ULP7 film to deliver high performance at scale.

ChargeBag® QF (Quick-Fill): Engineered for faster dispensing and transfer in high-throughput bio-pharmaceutical and chemical production, it features a large top-opening for rapid filling, a clean connection port to prevent rotation during filling, and a flexible skirt that shields the bag chamber from contamination — reducing cleanup time.

Available in both 2D and 3D formats with volumes from 10 to 150 liters, ChargeBag QF integrates easily into new or existing production environments. ChargePoint’s products serve leading pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical companies worldwide.

Shaping Pharma’s Future with Flexibility and Speed

The facility also expands manufacturing capabilities, enabling rapid sample turnaround, scaling of production, and faster market delivery of new innovations. This growth has facilitated local recruitment and broadened ChargePoint’s product offerings.

Chris Eccles, CEO of ChargePoint Technology, said, “Our new facility positions ChargePoint at the forefront of single-use technology. Establishing a dedicated product development and test cell marks a significant milestone in our growth, allowing us to better meet the evolving needs of our customers.”
