Rosatom has delivered its first batch of GT-5K technetium-99m generators to Kyrgyzstan, supporting the country’s efforts to restore nuclear medicine services. The radionuclide technetium-99m, produced by these generators, is crucial for diagnosing oncological, cardiological, and other diseases using single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT).
The generators will be supplied regularly to the National Center of Oncology and Hematology in Bishkek as part of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) technical cooperation project and the Rays of Hope initiative. Technetium-99m is used in 80% of SPECT diagnostic procedures, enabling early detection of conditions in the thyroid, heart, bones, lungs, kidneys, and digestive system.
Rosatom emphasized that the initiative improves diagnostic accuracy and treatment outcomes, contributing to higher patient survival rates in Kyrgyzstan.
