Bobcat Company has significantly expanded its Machine IQ Remote Engine Disable/Enable technology to cover additional equipment categories. Originally available for select compact track loaders and skid-steer loaders, the anti-theft system now supports compact excavators, compact wheel loaders, and Toolcat utility machines in North America and Europe.
Aftermarket Solution for Older Equipment
For machines without factory-installed telematics hardware, Bobcat offers an aftermarket kit available through authorized dealers. This retrofit option ensures equipment owners across the company’s product line can benefit from enhanced security features regardless of their machine’s original configuration.
How the Anti-Theft System Works
The technology allows owners to remotely disable and re-enable engines through the Bobcat Owner Portal or Machine IQ mobile app. When activated, operating machines enter a de-rate mode while stationary units become completely inoperable. The system provides real-time location tracking, enabling quick recovery of stolen equipment.
Valuable Tool for Rental Businesses
Rental companies particularly benefit from this technology, as dealers can remotely disable equipment when renters violate agreement terms. “This feature gives our customers unprecedented control over their assets,” said a Bobcat spokesperson. “It deters theft while protecting rental revenue streams.”
Subscription-Based Security Solution
The Remote Engine Disable/Enable feature requires a Machine IQ Health and Security subscription. Once activated, the system prevents unauthorized startups while maintaining full functionality for legitimate operators, offering peace of mind for equipment owners across multiple industries.
