Italian startup Roboprint has partnered with TM Robotics to transform this labor-intensive workflow using Shibaura Machine robots. Their solution automates the handling of 50kg fabric reels and delicate cloth detachment—tasks previously requiring significant human intervention.
Solving a Sticky Manufacturing Challenge
Centrostyle, a leading Italian manufacturer, faced multiple production hurdles:
- Workers manually processed 220cm fabric reels weighing up to 50kg
- The detachment process risked musculoskeletal injuries
- Labor costs were mounting for stacking and packaging
The Roboprint solution combines a patented “Splitter” system with Shibaura Machine’s THE600 SCARA robots to completely overhaul this workflow.

The automated system features:
- A reel-dragging mechanism that gently folds and detaches cloths
- Dual THE600 SCARA robots with customizable suction grippers
- Smart conveyor belts for final stacking
